We champion museums and nurture excellence. During this global pandemic, never before has the need been so great for Alliance leadership and resources on accreditation and assessment, advocacy, strategic foresight, diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion, and governance to secure the future of our country’s museums.
The Alliance is supported by our dedicated members and allies and the generosity of donors, sponsors, foundations, and other partners. Together we believe that museums are essential to the cultural fabric of our communities.
You can make an impact in your community, and our nation, with a gift to AAM today.
Advocacy: Speak up for Museums
As fans of arts and culture, we all know about the educational and social impact of museums year long as well as during challenging times. They are economic engines too. Support Museums Advocacy Day and our year round advocacy efforts, and keep essential local, state, and federal funding alive.
Center for the Future of Museums
What do we know about the future? Nothing is certain but we are working hard to predict how we might react to natural disasters, a failing criminal justice system, migration, the rise of artificial intelligence, and the health and economic impact of the current global pandemic (to name a few). Help us fund more strategic foresight, critical thinking, and scenario planning for disasters as we aspire to a better future.
Read about the work of the Center for the Future of Museums and how AAM is helping the field to think about and plan for a vibrant future.
The Alliance is committed to cultivating leaders across the field with a broad range of perspectives. You can help us provide greater access to professional development and networking at our Annual Meeting through the Alliance Scholarship Program.
Nurture Museum Excellence
Together, we nurture a culture of excellence. Help us support, motivate, and recognize our field’s ongoing commitment to professionalism, standards, and best practices, even during challenging times.
Leadership and Research
Our goal is to provide valuable resources and information to our members, partners, and the entire field. Support new research or the next landmark report and help make museums not just better, but the best they can be.
Membership dues cover only a portion of AAM’s annual budget. Your unrestricted support allows us to direct resources to areas of greatest need to serve the field and respond to changing events. Recovering from the current COVID-19 health and economic crisis will require us to navigate the challenges to our field together.
Corporate, Foundation, and Other Grant Making Partners
Corporations, foundations, and other institutions provide vital support for priority programs, including Annual Meeting, Museums Advocacy Day, Facing Change, and other priority groundbreaking programs and research initiatives, including meeting the needs of members and museums in response to COVID-19.
